Steve Adorno - The Virtual Band

1976 - Devoshun

Over 40 years ago while in high school I started a band with my Bronx neighborhood friends called Devoshun. We were all about 16 years old. We were going to school in the day and performing illegally as minors in nightclubs at night. We had no management so I took the job. My dad drove our truck to the gigs because we were too young to drive. My mom was a seamstress and made our outfits in the photo below. I got us signed to an indie label called SMI Records from Manhattan and we ended up with a Billboard Magazine Hot 100 dance record and made the “Essential Disco Discs of 1976” list. Our first recording session was at Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady Studios. Our first Booking Agent was Robert Ian Rowland and original Band members were Lori Rose Michael Ledesma Lou Papi Perez Joseph Irving (Skip), Rodney Forrstal Art Shane and Steve Adorno. We are considered Pioneers of early south Bronx Disco and Dance music ( the home of hip hop)and were one of the first artists to have a release on the new format The 12” Dj single. Four years later i became the drummer for Arista Records platinum recording artists GQ.
